“Development of models of social assistance to families which look after children with disabilities in the Republic of Belarus”
To improve social assistance to families which look after children with disabilities in the Republic of Belarus by means of introduction of social respite care service.
Main activities in 2012
- experience was generalized; documentation which regulates conditions of organization and provision of social respite care service was worked out;
- a flat was equipped, up to 3 children can live there at the same time;
- specialists and volunteers were selected and trained to provide social respite care service;
- social respite care service had being tested during 7 months. 26 families could use the service. Children could stay in a flat for up to 28 days (7 children used the service twice and one child used the service 3 times). There were 35 requests in all.
The project is still being successfully realized, both parents and children like it.
